Date of Meeting: December 9, 2000
President Amy Ruell called the meeting to order at 1:00 P.M. Because clerk, Jeanette Kutash, was ill and not in attendance, a motion was made and approved which allowed for the exclusion of the customary reading of the minutes, which are available on the VIBUG home page.
Amy announced that the January demonstration would be a presentation of OpenBook version 5.0 by Bill Kilroy of Freedom Scientific. In February, David MCCallum will demonstrate the latest version of ZoomText, AI Squared's screen enlargement program.
Amy announced that Hearme was eliminating the chat client which we have been using to conduct VIBUG chats. It was noted that participation in chat sessions had been limited and decided that interest in finding a replacement would be evaluated in the future.
Eileen Curran has notified Amy that NBP's DSL provider is changing and that information about the new provider and the costs which VIBUG will incur if we elect to obtain DSL services will not be available for a few months.
The membership was reminded that it is time to renew for the 2001 calendar year. A reminder notice will go out later this month.
John Mattioli announced that Benetech has some older model scanners for sale and also stated that he has some used scanning equipment which he would like to sell. John agreed to send Amy information about this which can be distributed to the e-mail list.
After a short question and answer period, the meeting was adjourned at 1:30 P.M. and the VIBUG holiday party was held.
Respectfully Submitted,
Amy Ruell, President
