President Amy Ruell called the meeting to order at 1:03 p.m. Dennis Brady read the minutes for the Nov. 12, 2005 meeting, and they were approved with one change. Amy explained that because of increased security concerns, the front door will be locked after 1:15 pm., and that people who attend the meeting must stay in the conference room or break room. In addition, we need to leave the building as soon after 4 p.m. as possible.

The February 11 demonstration will be about podcasts and will be given by Mika Pyyhkala. ; March 11th, Dennis Brady and Steve Dresser will demonstrate the IRS tax-filing system.

The president reminded VIBUG members to send their dues to Jim Roberts, and send current e-mail addresses to Ted Filteau.

If a VIBUG meeting needs to be canceled or postponed, the information will be on the VIBUG mailbox, and Amy will send e-mail messages to members by 7 a.m. on the day of the meeting.

The members adopted a motion that people who receive VIBUG hardcopy notices but are not paying members be notified that they will no longer receive hard copy notices unless they join. After some discussion, we decided to launch a pilot program to pay for and use a chat room service that will make our meetings available to people who cannot be at NBP. We will try this for 1 year and then assess whether this should continue for the future.

Amy asked if VIBUG should obtain new tutorials to replace our outdated ones, and we decided to make this a question on an upcoming survey.

Jim Roberts gave the treasurer's report: last year we began with $1,178.69, and we now have $1,188.74; report accepted.
