Date of Meeting: March 9, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m. by President Amy Ruell. Following introductions, the minutes were read and approved as written.
Amy announced the following:
The Vibug site has now been updated and reorganized. Check it out.
Links which are referenced during meeting are available on the website.
The next meeting will be on April 13th. Bill Kilroy from Freedom Scientific will be demonstrating the latest version of Magic,as well as pdf access with JFW.
Due to the renovation schedule at NBP, VIBUG meetings beginning in May will be held at the Boston Public Library. Amy will let people know where meetings will be as soon as space is identified. She will also be taking the computer home to update it. NBP has requested that we put off purchasing the cart until after the rennovations have been made. This is because getting the cart inside without an elevator will be difficult.
Amy's new e-mail address is aruell@attbi.com. Also, people should return their surveys as soon as possible. She has extended the deadline for returning them to the end of the month because of e-mail problems.
Bookshare.org is now up and running. There is a yearly fee, and an initial registration fee. Check out their website for more details at www.bookshare.org.
Hanson Public Library has contacted Amy for advice about purchasing equipment. We may be asked to assist them once equipment has arrived.
JFW has a new beta for 4.02 posted on their website.
Yahoo Groups are thinking about charging for e-mail lists that have large volume.
People were asked to try not to talk during demonstrations. Please leave the room if you need to carry on a conversation.
Jim Roberts stated that we had 32 members, and with the two more that Amy knew of, we were up to 34.
Don Breda requested that people changing from Mediaone.net to Attbi.com notify him individually.
Following the demonstration by Joe Lazarro, the meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted
