VIBUG Minutes for Saturday, November 11, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 1:15 p.m. Steve Dresser demonstrated some of the features of Duxbury 10.6, available from http://www.duxburysystems.com/.

At the business meeting, the October Minutes were approved "as synthesized." Amy said that VIBUG announcements will appear on our bulletin board. She encouraged us to use our updated webpage. We discussed the upcoming Holiday Party.

Internet Explorer 7 is now available, and JAWS 8, Window-Eyes 6.0 and ZoomText now support it.

Amy attended a meeting sponsored by Microsoft where some of the increased accessibility of Vista and Office were demonstrated.

The state of Massachusetts is going to adopt Open Document format: VIBUG members may be asked for their opinions about this; Amy has offered her suggestions, and thinks that VIBUG members should be compensated for theirs.

Ed Gilbert gave information about where to get inexpensive eyeglasses.

Amy said that Duxbury may be less expensive from dealers such as Adaptive Information Systems, http://www.adaptiveinformation.org/.

Tim Cumings announced that GoldWave 5.16 is now available from http://www.goldwave.com/ Audio. files can be opened more easily, and the meters can be read by a screen reader.
