Date of Meeting: October 14, 2000
The meeting was called to order by President Amy Ruell at 1:00 PM. The minutes for September's meeting were read, and approved without corrections.
Jim Roberts informed us that we currently have 56 members, and that we have approximately $2540 in the treasury after paying miscellaneous expenses.
Don Breda recommended that we change the bylaws to modify the fiscal year for the organization so that our fiscal year would coincide with the calendar year. After this motion was approved by meeting attendees, Amy requested and Don agreed to write a proposal to modify the bylaws for the membership's consideration and present it at a future meeting. The Nominating Committee again stated their recommendation that all of the current officers be re-elected for an additional term of office. No other nominations were made from the floor and the recommended slate was elected unanimously.
Amy told us that she had not confirmed the topic of the November meting, so people should pay close attention to the VIBUG Meeting Notice. Meeting attendees expressed interest in having a holiday party on December 9, which Jeanette agreed to co-ordinate. January's meeting will feature a demonstration of the new Open Book 5.0 software.
GW Micro staff have agreed to present Window-Eyes at a future meeting.
An announcement was made about a new ACB affiliate for students, MAVIS. Which will hold its first meeting during the BSCB convention on November 4, 2000.
John Oliveira announced that the Wheelock Family Theater was doing audio description of Hello Dolly on November 24 and 26. The Association of Blind Citizens should be contacted for information about obtaining discount tickets.
In our question and answer portion we spoke about protecting files, removing items from the system tray, running CD's with and without the autorun feature enabled, and setting up multiple identities in Outlook.
Following the demonstration of Excel by Jerry Barrier, the meeting was adjourned at 3:35 PM.
