VIBUG MEETING MINUTES

Date of Meeting: February 12, 2022

WHEN: : 1:00 TO 3:45 P.M.

Where, Virtually

The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. by President Frank Ventura. Following introductions, the following announcements were made.

Jerry Berrier announced that we have two email lists: The support list is only for Vibug members. Any time a new member has joined Jerry sends out instructions as to how to get on the support list. It's a good list to be on because you can ask and answer questions. The other list is an announce only list, which is available to anyone who wants to join it, but you don't have to be a member of VIBUG. To learn more about how to join them the easiest way is to go to our website: vibug.org and there are instructions on how to join both lists there. According to Jerry's record we have 45 paid members at this point; it is never too late to join.

Jeanette Kutash announced that she inadvertently deleted the December meeting minutes and would retrieve them and send them out soon.

Tim Cumings announced that the technology is working well and he is grateful he is not carrying equipment to meetings.

In Bob Resnick's absence, Frank announced that the treasury is in good health and there have been no major changes this month.

Gang Luo, Ph.D., Associate Professor Harvard Medical School described the new navigation app he describes as: Because of lack of pinpoint accuracy, GPS turn-by-turn navigation might not guide blind people to arrive at the precise locations of bus stops. Merely 30 feet may be large enough to make them miss the buses entirely. All Aboard app utilizes phone camera and computer vision technology to find bus stop signs in the vicinity, and guides users to the exact location of bus stops with auditory cues.

Kelsey Nicolay described a streaming media app called OOTunes.

Jerry Berrier and Steve Dresser are both users of the Sonos media technologies and described what they are about and how they use that technology.

Frank Ventura talked about the Pandora streaming media service.

Following these demonstrations, the meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted, Jeanette Kutash, Vibug Clerk
