VIBUG MEETING MINUTES

Date of Meeting: February 11 2023

When: 1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: Virtually

The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. Following introductions, the following announcements were made.

Jerry Berrier checked to see how many have paid their dues for 2023 so far, and he sees there are 27 who have paid dues. If you have not done so dues are $20 and you may go to the VIBUG website and pay them there. (john Smith stated he had 25, and the two officers will compare notes to determine the discrepancy.) Jerry states if you do not know if you paid dues, you should ask one of us. But John stated that if you paid by Paypal you should actually have a receipt.

John reminded people that the treasurer's email is vibug.treasurer@gmail.com and stated this is on the VIBUG web site.

Jeanette Kutash reminded all that last year we sent out a letter to remind people that if they did not pay dues we would remove them from the support list but we officers said we would discuss whether we will do this again this year at an officer's meeting.

There have been very few announcements, so minutes need little review but will be put on the website. Due to the change in treasurer we updated the minutes so this could happen and in the process discovered that our changes to the bylaws had not been added to the website, so we rectified this issue.

John indicated that we had expenses in 2022 for our zoom account. Our account is healthy. This year, 2023, we have received dues from 25 people and our only expenses for 2023 have been for three $25.00 gift cards.

Motions were made and seconded to accept both the treasury and clerk reports by Steve and Jeanette respectively. The vote was unanimous.

Steve announced for anyone who has the Hims notetakers, specifically the BS-6, an update, called a patch, came out yesterday. You have to download the file from the website, so you go to http://www.Hims-inc.com and then to the support section and the download center, and you will find the links to the notetaker that you want to work with. It is a file with a whole bunch of numbers.bin, and it's a link to download it. Put it on an SD card, put it in your notetaker. Then go back to the "check for updates" on your notetaker and you use the option, check off line. The machine knows to go to your SD card, it does the update, rebooting a couple of times, and you are done.

jeffrey Drucker referred a gentleman to Frank to discuss a sonar cane to possibly be demonstrated at VIBUG. Frank will look for that email. Jeffrey also asked Frank to report to zoom that their New York number is not answering.

Following technology questions and answers, Dave Hunt demonstrated Mastodon.

Jerry Berrier demonstrated the Hable One, which is a device that has a Braille Keyboard with 8 dots on it whose purpose is to operate a smart phone without touching the phone itself.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted, Jeanette Kutash, Vibug Clerk
