VIBUG MEETING MINUTES

Date of Meeting: October 13, 2018

Where: MIT 77 Mass. Ave., Building 5, Room 134, Cambridge, Mass.

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Frank Ventura at 1:00 p.m. Following introductions the minutes were read by Jeanette Kutash, Clerk. The motion was made by Tim Cumings, and accepted by David kingsbury to approve the minutes with this modification: Delete the presentation by David Kingsbury as it did not occur. The motion passed unanimously.

In Bob Resnick, Treasurer's absence, Frank reported that our VIBUG account has 8488.59. Some of that money will need to be used for equipment upgrades.

Frank reported we do have two email lists. If anyone has problems with either list, send a message to President@vibug.org so that the issues can be resolved.

Frank reminded us if you want to vote in next month's elections or run for any office, your membership must be paid by the end of this meeting. If you pay in November or December, your dues will cover the year 2019.

Frank reported there will be no Daily Fibre subscription as the Daily Fibre is being discontinued at the end of this month.

Frank reported There is a Jaws Beta available on their website.

Jeffrey Drucker said there is A research project being conducted at Children's Hospital. They are looking for participants who can walk around for 2 to 3 hours. For more information, see him after the meeting.

Jeanette Kutash reported that the Hims Polaris has a major update which is only good for the 32-cell version.

The nominating committee, John Smith, Jeffrey Thompson and Brian Switzer made the following recommendations: for President, Frank Ventura, for Vice President, Jerry Berrier, for Treasurer, Bob Resnick, and for Clerk, Jeanette Kutash. They also noted that Kelsay Nicolay is also interested in running for that position.

Frank reminded people that nominations may also be made from the floor.

Frank informed all that the speakers have been changed around so that people in the back of the room will bbetter hear the online participants. Also, the laptop that controls the presentations will also be replaced due to audio sound and connection issues. Next month we will completely unwrap and set up the new laptop we will be using to demonstrate how this can be done independently. We have a new sound card, some new cables, and may change the microphones. These are the kinds of things the dues pay for.

Motions were made and accepted and all atending agreed that the holiday party will be held at the Corib Pub in West Roxbury. Jeanette and Nina will be in charge. There will be a cut-off date for signing up, and anyone who calls to sign up after this date will not be added to the list. This must be the case, as last year there were people who showed up at the last minute, and as the restaurant was already quite committed, we almost had to turn people away. Except in cases of extreme emergency any needing to cancel after they have signed up must let us know by Thursday of the week of the party.

Jeanette Kutash and John Smith will be manning the Carroll Centre table at the Technology Fare on November 20, 2018. We graciously thanked Vibug for offering to pay for our lunches, but have decided to bring our lunch from home.

Following demonstrations of Aira updates by Jeanette Kutash, and installing Windows 10 by Frank Ventura, the meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted, Jeanette Kutash, Vibug Clerk
