VIBUG MEETING MINUTES

Date of Meeting: October 8, 2022

When: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: Virtually

The meeting was called to order at 12:35 p.m. Following introductions, the following announcements were made.

Frank Ventura, VIBUG President, stated that there was no need to address the issue of an in-person meeting at present.

Jeanette Kutash, Vibug Clerk, announced that Mika Pyyhkala has agreed to chair the nominating committee and Mika shared the following:

This process of the nominating committee will run from October to November. The committee includes Mika Pyyhkala, Nina Kagan and Jeffrey Drucker. Current officers will be contacted to see if they are interested in running. An email will also be sent to the list to see if anyone else is interested in running. The committee will present its slate of recommendations, and members can vote for the slate, or nominate people from the floor as elections will be held in the November meeting.

Frank stated that voting would be done by voice, but if there was any question as to who had the most votes if two people were running, we would do raised hands.

Mika also announced that he had a number of items that he had recently obtained and he was interested in demoing them if VIBUG was interested, and Frank stated we would be re-establishing a programming committee, and anyone interested in chairing that should let Frank know, and we will get a committee set up and begin considering any possible topics.

Jeanette led a discussion about interest in an in-person holiday party in January. People decided they were interested in going back to The Corrib Pubb; a motion was made and seconded to do this. It passed unanimously. Nina and Jeanette will chair the event.

Following questions and answers, Jeanette Kutash demonstrated some features of the Braille Sense 6 Mini. Jerry Berrier demonstrated the Windows-based program called Chicken nugget.

Following these demonstrations, the meeting was adjourned at 2:30 P.m.

Respectfully submitted, Jeanette Kutash, Vibug Clerk
